Join us for the inaugural meeting of OCA-OC’s book and film discussion club! We’ll be meeting on a regular basis over dinner to discuss interesting movies and literary works, facilitated by OCA-OC’s newest board member, Natalia Yamashiro.

Our first book will be Jhumpa Lahiri’s “Interpreter of Maladies,” winner of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The collection of nine short stories charts the emotional journeys of characters seeking love beyond the barriers of nations and generations, the out-of-context lives of South Asian immigrants, expatriates and first-generation Americans. In tales that “travel from India to America and back again, Lahiri speaks with universal eloquence to everyone who has ever felt like a foreigner.”

It’s not mandatory to read the book to attend, but of course you’ll be a lot more out of the discussion if you do! If you have any questions about the Book and Film Club or the book chosen, please contact Natalia at: 909-569-9655, nmyamashiro@verizon.net
